123 Glow -- Holiday Edition

Your child can scroll to different options within the app to find what they would like to color.

There are many different shapes to choose from. Teacher or Parent can help child choose to customize a lesson for a certain shape.

Child can pick a color to either Flood Fill or Paint the shape. When color is touched, the name of that color pops up and the App verbally says the name of that color, which makes this App great for learning colors, as well as shapes.

iPhone App:
K-Magic: Building Blocks - PAKA
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/k-magic-building-blocks/id369649253?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D4
K-Magic -- Building Blocks is a Free App in the iTunes App Store that teaches children shapes and colors.

Once the K-Magic App is open, your child can choose whether they would like to play games, or if they would like to watch the movie. If your chooses to play games, they will come to a screen with a blank shape. Your child then has to pick out the shape that would fit in the blank shape area.

The graphics within this App are adorable. Can your child find the shape that would fit in the empty blank? This is a terrific App that helps your child recognize shapes.

When your child chooses the right shape, this happy little bear pops up and praises your child.

If your child chooses to watch the movie within this App, a cute movie plays about this poor little doggie losing his ball. Isn't he cute and lovable?

Poor puppy's ball gets lost in a pile of blocks. However can he find his ball? This cute movie takes Doggie through the blocks to find his ball. A cute story to your child, but while they are enjoying the movie, they are also learning about shapes. This FREE and adorable app gets two thumbs up from iSchoolSource!

Aesop's Wheel of Fables

iPad Link:
Aesop's Wheel of Fables - STICKERY PTE. LTD.
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/aesops-wheel-of-fables/id374552586?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D4

Aesop's Wheel of Fables is a storybook App by the makers of Stickery. Aesop's Wheel of Fables is a free iPad Native App in the App Store that reads fables to your child. Child simply spins the wheel to choose which fable they want to hear. Then, child clicks on the 'read story' button at the bottom of the page, and app opens up to the story, and reads it to your child.

It is really hard to find fault with a free app that reads fables to children. If we at iSchoolSource were to list one fault, it would have to be that the app does not highlight the words as story is read to your child. This is not a big thing, though, and this app is wonderful. Every child is sure to love Aesop's Fables.

Kid Animation -- App School

iPad App:
Kid Animation - miSoft

Kid Animation seems to be a sister app to the Kid Paint app. Kid Animation and Kid Paint are much alike, but the Kid Animation app offers the ability to animate art. Animation abilities include the ability to record sound. Kid Animation is a free app, and like Kid Paint, the ads are unintrusive and at the top of the page. Children of any age can easily figure out how to draw and animate with Kids Animation. You might be amazed with what your child can come up with!

Kid Timber -- App School

Kid Timber is much like the Kids Blocks app, and seems to work in much the same way. The only difference between Kid Timber and Kid Blocks is that Kid Timber is like playing with Lincoln Logs (Without a mess to clean up when your child is done playing!) Kid Timber is free and ad supported. Ads are at the top of the page, and do not interfere with your child's building. There are various sizes of logs, rafters, and animals within the Kid Timber App. What will your future architect come up with?

Scribble Kid -- App School

iPad App
Scribble Kid - Mile 26 Studios
Every child loves markers, but they can get MESSY! Let your young child use markers all they like with a free App called Scribble Kid. Scribble Kid is very simple to use. Child easily taps on the color of marker they want, and then they can begin scribbling on the page. There are different templates that can be used, such as a blank page, a circle, a square, and many more. As chlid draws with marker, a scribbling sound plays in the background to coincide with finger (or stylus) movements on the iDevice. This app does not have any ads, which is great for young children. The only flaw we can find with this app is that there is not a way to save your child's design, which could easily be remedied by using the screen capture feature on your iDevice.
